Having an eye examination isn’t just about your vision, it can tell Optometrists a lot about your overall eye health and help them identify any potential issues such as: high blood pressure, hardening of the arteries, diabetes and glaucoma.
NHS Exemptions
You are entitled to an eye examination under the NHS if you fit one of these criteria:
- Children and students under the age of 19
- 60 and over
- Diabetic
- Glaucoma sufferers and their immediate relatives over 40 years old
- In receipt of Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance, Working Family Tax Credit and Employment & Support Allowance
- Exemption certificate (HC2)
- Complex lenses requirement

In addition to the list below, we also offer other services such as corporate eye examinations, safety spectacles, colour vision testing, coloured overlays for Dyslexic screening and Low Visual Aids.
PEARS (Primary Eyecare Assessment and Referral Service) appointment requires patient to be registered with a Sheffield or Barnsley G.P Surgery.
